KatsuBet is a beautifully designed online casino that takes inspiration from Japan, with a distinctive Japanese style displayed throughout the site.

It’s a rebranding of Mars Casino, a site that we reviewed in early-to-mid 2020 and one that we praised, giving it close to top marks one our list off the best Bitcoin casinos and referring to it many times in the proceeding months.

Why did Mars Casino become KatsuBet? We’re not sure. However, Mars Casino was operated by Direx N.V., while DAMA N.V. is the operator behind KatsuBet, suggesting that the new operators decided on a different course. It happens, and while it’s not very common with online casinos, it’s understandable.

It makes our job a little trickier, as we now have to create a new review and redirect our Mars Casino review to this KatsuBet Review. What’s more, because we had such good experiences with Mars Casino, the bar has been set pretty high for KatsuBet.

Keep reading our KatsuBet review to determine if this site is on par with its predecessor or if it has just trashed the 4 years of respect that Mars Casino had earned within the online casino industry.

Restricted Countries

With language options restricted to English and Russian, it’s easy to see where KatsuBet targets its services. Of course, it doesn’t have a UK gambling license and so it’s not available in the United Kingdom, but it can be accessed by players in Canada, Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand, and it has a growing playerbase in Russia.

You cannot join if you are in Sweden, France, and a handful of other countries, and it’s also not available to players in the Schleswig-Holstein of Germany or New South Wales in Australia, even though it is available in all other regions in those countries.

KatsuBet Promotions and Bonuses

All new players are invited to collect a four-tier Welcome Bonus, scooping up to €500 in bonus credits, along with 100 Free Spins. You’ll get a 100%, 75%, 50%, and 100% match on your four deposits, with the Free Spins released during your first deposit.

Additional Reload bonuses are available once this promotion finishes, including a Monday Reload Bonus capped at €100 and a Wednesday Reload Bonus promising up to 200 Free Spins.

As soon as you join the site, you’ll be given a chance to collect Loyalty Points and work your way toward big cashback offers. There are 8 tiers in total and the first of these offers 3% Cashback while the last one goes as high as 20%.

You need to collect a lot of points to make it that far, but there are no shortage of games, and all of these can help you on your way.

For additional ways to collect, take a look at the casino’s real money slot tournaments, coined “Slot Combat Tournaments”.

These tournaments work in much the same way as the tournaments discussed in our other reviews. You can take your pick of top online casino games, play as much or as little as you like, and you’ll earn points that allow you to gradually scale the leaderboard.

Depending on your position, you could earn a bundle of bonus credits, Free Spins, and even cash. It’s a great way to earn some extra cash and credits on the side, as you will also get to keep all of the real money you win by spinning the reels.

KatsuBet Software

When we first saw the name KatsuBet, we expected to see an online sports book, probably one that was offered alongside a series of casino games. “Bet” can mean anything, from bets on Roulette to bets on a Premier League game, but more often than not, when gambling sites use that name it’s because they have a sports book attached.

That’s not the case with KatsuBet. There are no online betting markets here, at least not during the launch. Of course, that launch occurred in late-2020, a time of great uncertainty for the sports book industry, so maybe we will see sports betting options being added at a later date.

But when you have so many slots, table games, and other top titles to choose from, who needs sports bets?

KatsuBet Banking Options

We have some good and bad points to discuss when it comes to the casino’s banking options. Firstly, let’s get the good stuff out of the way.

KatsuBet doesn’t have an extensive pending period, nor does it require customers to undertake a lengthy verification process. Everything is processed quickly and painlessly, ensuring you will get your winnings within a few hours.

Now for the negatives.

The first issue that we have with KatsuBet concerns the fee, which applies to all deposits and withdrawals made via MasterCard, Visa, and Maestro. It will cost you 2.5% in total. That may not sound like a lot, but it all adds up, especially when you consider that your card provider might also charge you a fee.

On a $100 deposit, that 2.5% turns into $2.50. If you withdraw the same amount, that’s another $2.50. In addition, if you’re using a credit card, you’ll be hit with a cash transaction fee of up to 5%, as well as additional interest charges.

You could lose 10% of your winnings, which is absurd!

That’s not the only issue, either, as KatsuBet also has a withdrawal limit…

KatsuBet Withdrawal Limit

One of the biggest issues that we had with Mars Casino was its withdrawal limit, which restricted players to just €5,000 per week and €15,000 per month. It spoiled what was otherwise a great casino for us.

Unfortunately, and as you might have anticipated, the same limits are in place on KatsuBet. It’s a huge (if not unexpected) let down, and it renders the casino useless for high rollers.

As much as we complain about withdrawal limits, it’s worth noting that we’re not high rollers. We typically deposit €100 to €200 at a time and that serves us for a couple of weeks. It puts us in the medium-stake level, and should mean that we’re okay with the aforementioned limits.

But we’re not, because what happens when we get a freak, fortunate, once-in-a-lifetime win? What happens when we’re lucky enough to scoop a fixed 10,000x jackpot or a progressive jackpot? What it means is that we need to wait several months to get our money and in the case of progressive jackpots, it could be years.

Of course, progressive jackpots come from the developer, but they are still paid by the casino and there have been multiple stories of players who won big and were then hit with withdrawal limits.

KatsuBet Games

KatsuBet works with some of the biggest names in the iGaming sector, including the likes of Microgaming, NetEnt, BetSoft, and Yggdrasil. All of these ensure that the site is stocked with a regular supply of premium games, all of which cover a wide arrange of stake levels.

The categories aren’t exactly diverse, so you might have a hard time narrowing down the casino’s vast selection, but we find that it helps to search by provider. Alternatively, you can filter your search for Bonus Buy games, which allow you to skip the lengthy bonus hunting and cut straight to the good stuff.

We also recommend taking a look at the Jackpot section. This page is populated by games from Betsoft, Microgaming, and many more, including a series of titles that are tied into the Mega Moolah jackpot series, one of the biggest in the world.

KatsuBet Security and Safety

DAMA is an established casino operator. It works with some of the best online casinos in the world and has a series of systems in place to guarantee the security of all its sites and the safety of all its players.

Many of the brand’s casinos were launched in 2020 and the brand itself hasn’t been around very long, but it’s still an established and trusted brand and one that is quickly making a name for itself.

We have spoken a lot about Direx and Araxio casinos in the past and while DAMA wasn’t quite on par with these guys at the start of 2020, it’s now very much up there with the best of them.

Customer Support

KatsuBet has Live Chat support and it is open to all players, including non-members. However, it is not available 24/7.

The casino launched in 2020 and we’re conducting this review towards the tail end of 2020, so we don’t know if this will be a permanent thing or if they’re just cutting resources due to the pandemic. Maybe they’ll increase their hours when resources allow; maybe not. In any case, the support options as they exist now are very good and the support team is very friendly.

We can’t comment on whether or not they respond to reviews because they haven’t had a chance to. There are reviews out there, but all are positive and most were posted in few days before this review was conducted. None have replies yet, but it can take up to a couple of weeks before casinos take note and get someone on the case.

FAQs

As noted at the outset of this review, KatsuBet is a rebranding of Mars Casino. It launched in 2020 and took over from a casino that had been around for 4 years at that point. As far as we can tell, the rebranding was the result of a change in ownership, although we’re not entirely site.

Not yet, but that might change. Most popular casinos make the switch eventually, because the process of adding sports betting software is relatively cheap and easy.

If you’re keen to place some sports bets in the meantime, check our guide on the best sports books.

KatsuBet is licensed by the authorities of Curacao and also utilizes state-of-the-art SSL certificates and other security technology. Every transaction is safe, every bet is fair—what more could you ask for?

Of course! As you would expect for a casino launched in 2020, KatsuBet is more than ready for mobile players. To stay on the safe side, just make sure you password-protect your device and only access the internet via secure connections.

You do not need to verify your details before you start playing. Like many casinos, however, KatsuBet might ask you for verification documents as part of random KYC checks, in which case the request usually occurs when you make your first withdrawal or withdraw a sizeable amount of money.

It’s a perfectly legitimate request and one that all casinos are required to make. The online gambling industry is one of the richest in the world and one that attracts a lot of money launderers. Governments and regulators are just doing their bit to keep players safe and ensure the industry remains legitimate.

Our KatsuBet Review Summary

KatsuBet is a very good online casino. If we were to compare it to Mars Casino, our preference would be with the latter, simply because it had a better theme and much larger bonuses. Mars Casino was also more focused on Bitcoin players, in our opinion at least.

That’s irrelevant now as Mars Casino doesn’t exist and there’s no going back to that Martian world where you could get up to 2 Bitcoins as a new player. What’s more, while KatsuBet is not the best casino we have reviewed, it still has a lot to offer, and while the bonuses aren’t huge, they are still worth your time.

It’s not without its issues, and we highlighted many of these throughout this review, but it has more pros than cons and if you’re searching for a new site, it could be just what you’re looking for.
